BenefitsCal is a one-stop-shop to apply for food assistance (CalFresh), cash aid (CalWORKs, General Assistance, Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants), and affordable health insurance (Medi-Cal).​

CalFresh is for people with low-income who meet federal income eligibility rules and want to add to their budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table.

​CalW​ORKs

CalWORKs is a welfare program that gives cash aid and services to eligible California families. If a family has little or no cash and needs housing, food, utilities, clothing or medical care, they may be eligible to receive immediate short-term help.​​​

​Women, In​fants, & Children (WIC)

Part of the nation's nutrition safety net for over 40 years, WIC now serves more than 8 million pregnant and post-partum women, infants, and children in the US. For a family to participate it must have a gross income of no more than 185 percent of the federal poverty level and be at nutritional risk.

​Medi-Cal

Medi-Cal offers free or low-cost health coverage for California residents who meet eligibility requirements. Most applicants who apply through Covered California and enroll in Medi-Cal will receive care through managed health plans.​

​​Property Tax P​ostpone​m​ent

The State Controller’s Property Tax Postponement Program allows homeowners who are seniors, are blind, or have a disability to defer current-year property taxes on their principal residence if they meet certain criteria, including at least 40 percent equity in the home and an annual household income of $45,000 or less (among other requirements).​​

Established by the Legislature in 1999, California’s Low Cost Auto Insurance Program is a state-sponsored program that makes auto insurance affordable for California's good drivers who meet income eligibility requirements, regardless of immigration status.
