Federal Funding Status
California continues to receive federal funding for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) energy bill and weatherization assistance. To date, California has received $215,756,159 in LIHEAP funding for 2025, or equal to about 90 percent of what was provided to California in 2024 under the annual federal LIHEAP appropriation.
Congress passed a continuing resolution on March 14, 2025 that funds the federal government through September 2025. CSD is awaiting details of any additional LIHEAP grant awards for 2025 and this page will be updated as additional information is received from our federal partners.
Federal funding for LIHEAP is limited, and local LIHEAP service providers prioritize benefits and services for particularly vulnerable households. As a result, some households eligible for LIHEAP may not qualify for a benefit in order to prioritize assistance for households with the greatest need.
To learn more about the availability of LIHEAP services in your area, please contact your local service provider by visiting Find Services in Your Area and selecting the Energy Bill Assistance and Weatherization Provider in your City or County.
